This past weekend, I (with the huge help of my family) hosted a garage sale. I had never hosted a garage sale before so I was going into it clueless. Nevertheless, our goal was simple; get rid of most of my stuff and make a couple bucks to put towards the race. I had set out a support letter and donation cup in hopes to start conversations with people about my mission or about Jesus in general.ย Our first day was Friday. I had prayed over the garage sale and that the Lord would provide in abundance. And He did! He raised me $482 on my first day of sale. I was blown away. We sold so much that my family looked through more things to sell that night for Saturday. I was so hyped for Saturday because I knew it would be busier than Friday.

Or so I thought--

Early Saturday morning our neighbor came to shop my sale. "How is it going?" they asked. My mom replied, "Honestly a pretty slow morning". Our neighbor informed us that the "good garage sale days" are Thursdays and Fridays. Not Fridays-Sundays, which we planned for. This got me a little bit worried, I was now anticipating the day to go as slow as the morning was. A couple minutes later, I got a text from my sweet friend and squad mate, Sydnie.

Syd: day 2 garage sale how are you feeling?

Me: my neighbor just told us that thurs and fri are the big garage sale days not Saturday lol so not sure

Syd: oh weird?

Me: but the Lord doesn't base His goodness on good garage sale days.

Read it again. The Lord doesn't base His goodness on good garage sale days. The Lord, in fact, doesn't base His goodness off anything in this world. His goodness is independent. In Exodus 3:14 God says "I AM WHO I AM" God will be who God is. His existence and character is determined by Him alone. And He says that He is kind, loving, gentle, just, the list of goodness goes on. Its written in all pages of the Bible. His character is not dependent on world views, my feelings, my circumstances, or the days I choose to have a garage sale. He is a good God because He is a good God.ย

P.S. The Lord blew me away on Saturday even more than Friday did. In total, God provided over $1000 to put towards the race. So take that Thursday garage sales
